Statement by the Pancyprian Federation of Labour (PEO)
SOLIDARITY WITH THE TURKISH CYPRIOT TRADE UNIONS!

The class-based trade union Pancyprian Federation of Labour (PEO) expresses its support and solidarity with the Turkish Cypriot Trade Unions, who have once again taken to the streets protesting against the anti-worker machinations of the Turkish Cypriot administration.
The Turkish Cypriot trade unions strongly oppose the bills tabled in “parliament”, through which trade unionism is being obstructed, labour rights are being taken away and collective agreements are being rendered useless. The Turkish Cypriot trade unions stress resolutely that their struggle will culminate in a general strike if these bills are not withdrawn.
The Pancyprian Federation of Labour PEO, from a position of principle, supports the struggle of the Turkish Cypriot trade unions, which is not just a struggle to assert labour and trade union rights.
It is also a struggle against impositions.
It is a struggle to preserve their identity, culture and autonomy as Turkish Cypriots.
