Online conference in solidarity with the Palestinian people
An online conference in solidarity with the Palestinian people was held on Saturday 4 November on the initiative of the Workers Union Coalition of Palestine (WUPC).
The meeting was attended by representatives of trade union organisations and a representative of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU). Pieris Pieris, Head of International Relations of the class-based trade union federation of the Pancyprian Federation of Labour (PEO), participated in the conference on behalf of the WFTU and conveyed the solidarity and support of Cypriot working people towards the struggle of the Palestinian people in their struggle against occupation and colonization and for the right to create an independent Palestinian state.
The Secretary of the Palestinian Workers’ Union, after expressing his gratitude, referred to the current conditions of the ongoing occupation by the Israeli army of the Palestinian territories in the West Bank, which are deteriorating daily. He also referred to the attacks being waged by the Israeli army which have led to total destruction in Gaza and the death of thousands of civilians and children.
