Dear comrades,
The Cuban people, despite fighting exclusion and imperialist provocations for 60 years now, have resolutely continued their struggle to create a society on the principles of justice, peace and socialism.
The rights to life, work, social welfare, health and education, are all achievements of the Cuban revolution, while the effort to improve them never stops.
At the same time, in numerous cases, the Cuban people, faithful to their principles of solidarity and selflessness, have helped and supported other peoples around the world.
During the COVID-19 pandemic where, even in the most developed capitalist countries, health systems have collapsed, profits matter more than human lives, and thousands have lost their lives because of neoliberal austerity policies and the commodification of health, Cuba, an embargoed island, continues to set an example of solidarity by sending the “Henry Reeve Brigade” to a number of countries around the world.
This manifestation of Cuban solidarity during this difficult period for humanity and the peoples, has become an object of admiration around the world.
On behalf of the General Council of PEO and the workers of Cyprus, we express our support for the nomination for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize to the doctors of Cuba.
